Other Social Infrastructure and Services

Being able to get involved in the life and development of one’s community is one of the fundamental prerequisites for sustainable growth. In the other social infrastructure and services sector Czech development cooperation focused primarily on integrating disadvantaged and excluded groups into society (the blind, deaf or otherwise disabled, as well as socially disadvantaged or otherwise excluded groups of people), on improving the education system and on the labour market. In the social sector, efforts were made to achieve positive system changes and build local capacities for social care and protection.

In 2017, based on an approved Government Resolution, a total of CZK 46.5 million was allocated to the sector of social infrastructure and services, approximately 99.8% of which was drawn down. The main recipient countries included Moldova, Georgia, Cambodia, Palestine, and Kosovo.

Development cooperation in this sector also contributed to fulfilment of Sustainable Development Goals. These include mainly Sustainable Development Goal No. 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, and Sustainable Development Goal No. 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
