Water and Sanitation

Within the water and sanitation sector, development cooperation in 2017 focused mostly on improving the situation in drinking water supplies and water source management, on waste water management and cleaning, communal waste management, and other forms of water source contamination prevention such as removing old environmental burden.

In 2017, the Government of the Czech Republic approved CZK 82 million for the water and sanitation sector. The actual drawdown in this sector last year was almost CZK 56 million, i.e. 68% of the original plan, whereas the recipient countries included Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ethiopia, Moldova, and Kosovo.

With its activities in this sector, the Czech Republic contributed mostly to fulfilling Sustainable Development Goal No. 6: Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.
